Arundhati Pillai

President

From Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Arundhati is a third-year double majoring in Biochemistry and Chemistry. A member of Women in Science since her first year, Arundhati is particularly passionate about scientific literacy and advocacy. Currently, Arundhati is a research assistant for Marsha Rosner and her research focuses on the interactions between exosomes and the tumor microenvironment. In her free time, she loves dancing for Apsara, editing for Scientia, running, and working out!

Jaeda Roberts

Vice President

From Arvada, Colorado, Jaeda is a third-year majoring in Environmental Science. A member since her first year, Jaeda wants to study the effects of climate change on the evolution of infectious diseases. Currently, Jaeda is a research assistant in the Hubbell Lab. Her research is centered on immune tolerance and the efficacy of antibody fragments as potential treatments for transplant rejection and autoimmune diseases. When not in lab, she’s either sailing on Lake Michigan, listening to true crime podcasts, or baking.

Vera Soloview

Secretary

From Anchorage, Alaska, Vera is a first-year majoring in Biology with a specialization in Microbiology. Along with being on the Women in Science board, Vera is also on the Phoenix Biology board and UChicago’s Womxn’s Rugby team. Aside from school, work, and RSO’s, Vera likes to spend her free time solving puzzles, playing Ultimate Frisbee, and walking her dog Yashka.

Elizabeth Price

Treasurer

From New York, Elizabeth is a third-year double majoring in Physics and Classics. Having previously served on the board as the New Member Outreach Coordinator, Elizabeth is passionate about connecting and supporting women within traditionally male-dominated fields. Elizabeth spent the past summer working in Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley and is planning to return this coming summer. Outside of Women in Science, you can find Elizabeth procrasti-baking, mourning the closing of her favorite on-campus coffee spot Sanctuary Cafe, working on shows with University Theater, or camped out for extraneous periods of time in KPTC 301.

Indi Khera

Campus Outreach Director

From Simsbury, Connecticut, Indi is a second-year majoring in Biology. Currently performing research in the Cognition Emotion Neuroscience Laboratory, her research is focused on examining the biological markers of severe mental illnesses like schizophrenia. When not in lab, Indi loves to write for the Triple Helix, listen to true crime podcasts, and dream about her ideal future job working as a Park Ranger.

Sophia Korotev

Research and Involvement

From Madison, Wisconsin, Sophia is a second-year majoring in Biology. She joined Women in Science to meet other motivated, aspiring female scientists at UChicago and to help students get involved in research. Sophia hopes to one day be a clinician-scientist. Currently, Sophia is a research assistant in the Godley Lab and her research focuses on germline cancer predisposition. Besides Women in Science, she is also a violinist in the Chamber Music Program piano quartet.

Alex Masegian

Social Media Manager

From San Jose, California, Alex is a first-year majoring in Astrophysics and double-minoring in Data Science and Creative Writing. Currently, Alex is a research assistant for Wendy Freedman and her research focuses on the stellar initial mass function. Aside from Women in Science, Alex is involved with the Society of Women in Physics. She's also passionate about writing science fiction, knitting random things, and playing soccer!

Yvette Nzutchi

Webmaster/Graphics

From Laurel, Maryland, Yvette is a third-year double-majoring in Biochemistry and Biological Sciences with a specialization in Microbiology. A member since her first year, Yvette is interested in increasing the steminist solidarity on campus and creating a community where women feel supported. Currently, her research interests include genomics and microbiology; in the future, she is aspiring to be a medical examiner. Outside of RSOs, Yvette can be found studying at her second home (the Reg), exploring the wonderfully diverse city of Chicago, cooking/baking, listening to any and all podcasts, and obliviously dancing in public!
